TECH REHEARSAL
We will email you specific tech times by March 14th. We will be doing tech rehearsals and a full run through the day of the event.
Tech times for companies on April 17th will start from 10:00am and end at around 3:45pm.
The day of the show, we will be doing a MANDATORY MEETING followed by a FULL VIDEOTAPED DRESS REHEARSAL which ALL COMPANIES MUST BE PRESENT FOR at 4:00pm.
PLEASE HAVE EXCATLY THE SAME COSTUMING ON (INCLUDING JEWELERY) FOR TECH AS YOU WILL FOR THE SHOW. This will make editing your piece for the promo and show easier for our video editor.
Every company will have AT THE MOST 15 minutes each to tech their piece. The stage size is 38’x36’.
LIGHTING CUES
As far as lighting cues, if you have a general and BASIC lighting scheme in mind, we will need it emailed to weckesser.josh@gmail.com AND COPIED TO info@hiphopconnxion.com by April 7th.
The lighting designer will then read through your cues in advance and have a good idea of what you will need on the day which will help with a speedy run through.
In previous years some companies did not send their lighting cues in time, and still wanted to do lighting on the day. This will be challenging as your tech time will be between 10-13 minutes, and that may not be enough time to run your piece with lights if the tech designer is still working on programming in your lights on the fly.

To get a head start with your lighting cues, below is an example of how we would like the lighting cues to read. Do it in this format and it will make life easier for our lighting designer.

If your lighting cues come AFTER April 7th, there is no guarantee you will have the lighting you want, and general lighting will be cued to your music. Our lighting designer will try to adjust to your specifications if they have time during your allotted time.
***IMPORTANT NOTE***
Try to keep your lighting somewhat bright, especially the wash (floor) lighting. Too much mood/low lighting has led to poor video and audience viewing. You want the audience to see your piece, and if it’s too dark on stage your faces and movements may not be seen as clearly as you would like, especially when watching it on video.
Here is the example of how to write your lighting cues which you can copy and paste exactly:
THE ONE 2027
Lighting Cues for: AMAZING DANCE COMPANY, INC.
NOTES:
If we don’t have your light colors we will exchange for similar lights.
CYC refers to either cyc, scrim or white back wall.
CHANGE = DEFAULT GRADUAL CHANGE OF LIGHTS
BUMP = IMMEDIATE LIGHT CHANGE
Dancer(s) start on or off stage: On Stage
Lighting description with times and cues:
-START WITH GREEN CYC, 0% WASH (SILHOUETTE)
LIGHTS GO, THEN SOUND GO.
0 secs
Song Title or Sound byte
-10 SECOND FADE UP ON WASH TO 80%
54 SECS
CHANGE CYC TO YELLOW
1:15
CHANGE CYC TO RED
2:14
Song Title or Sound byte
CHASE CYC TO LIGHTS DIFFERENT COLORS
3:56
Song Title or Sound byte
FADE CYC TO GREEN
4:53
Song Title or Sound byte
10 SECOND SLOW FADE WASH DOWN TO 0%
5:03
FADE CYC TO BLACKOUT
If you break it down similarly to what you see above, our lighting director will have a clearer understanding of what you are looking for. If you are not well versed on lighting and don’t require anything special, our lighting designer will either listen to the music ahead of time or watch your tech to understand how they want to program lighting for your piece.
***PROPS***
If you are going to use props and/or additional staging, please let us know that asap via email so we can make sure we have room to store your props, and we can do the show order accordingly so we don’t have major lapses in time between performances.
Also, if you plan to use glitter, powder or any other materials that can cause slippage on the floor, let us know that too so we can have stagehands ready to clean up after you so the next act isn’t affected.
MUSIC REQUIREMENTS
Each company’s piece will be no longer than 6 minutes (unless approved by the committee or Suavé). Please be sure that your piece is NO LONGER than the allotted time so that the show is kept to a respectable time, and doesn’t become long and drawn out.
For most of you, we don’t need to see your piece as we have worked with you in the past and have a relationship. For the groups whose pieces we do ask to see in advance, please don’t take offense. We will most likely be asking to see your work two weeks before the show. We trust that your set will be to the highest standard as you will be representing all that is good in the Midwest street dance scene.
***PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL CURSE WORDS IN YOUR MUSIC ARE EDITED CLEANLY AS THIS WILL BE A FAMILY SHOW, AND THERE WILL BE CHILDREN PRESENT***

As a rule of thumb, if it's not clean enough to put onto the local radio station, it's not clean enough for this show! We do not censor your movement choices or music selection with regard to content, but we do take the edited music part of our show seriously as we sometimes have corporate sponsors who will be attaching their names to our showcase.

Please double check music before emailing it to us. WE WILL NEED YOUR MUSIC SENT TO US NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, APRIL 7TH, emailed to info@theoneshowcase.com in MP3 FORMAT ONLY, (NOT AN M4A, MP4, ITUNES FILE, OR WMA FILE).
***IMPORTANT NOTE***
WE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTING REVISED MUSIC THE DAY OF THE SHOW (UNLESS IT HAS CURSE WORDS WE MISSED). THIS TENDS TO CAUSE ISSUES WITH ACCIDENTAL PLAYING OF WRONG MUSIC THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY EMAILED, AND A LOT OF LAST-MINUTE STRESS.
PROGRAM INFO
We will be doing a digital program with a QR code given to the audience as they walk in. When they scan the QR code, the full program including group bios and pictures, dancer’s names, and other information will be found on a website page that will have all of your company’s details.
We will be sending a Google form link via email by March 14th, and we will need that returned by SATURDAY, APRIL 3RD.
****VERY IMPORTANT NOTE****
PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR DANCERS TO SEE IF THEY ARE ALSO DANCING WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. WE WILL NEED TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION FOR THE SAKE OF SPACING OUT THE COMPANIES ACCORDINGLY SO THERE ARE NO QUICK CHANGE OR RUSH SITUATIONS.
ONCE THE LINE UP IS DONE, IT WILL REMAIN THE SAME WITH NO DAY-OF CHANGES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
Thanks once again for being a part of this production. With your help in meeting the deadlines and criteria, this will be another amazing show thanks to groups like yours.

We look forward to seeing you on April 17th at THE ONE Street Dance Showcase!

Sincerely,
THE ONE Showcase Committee
